As Head of Faculty of the Arts and Applied Technology Department, I have had the opportunity to transfer my skills as a Graphics Designer and my understanding of the elements and principles of art into other creative subjects including Visual Arts and Film.

In the past ten years, I have not only been able to design and been provided with an open plan collaborative design space in which my Art and Design students to work, but have students work in the studio space creating some of the most amazing work I have seen in years. I have implemented many events that exhibit the quality of the students' work that has gained much recognition in the wider community.

Each year the Year 9 and 10 students work on a collaborative Wearable Art and Design Exhibition: where students go through a design process based on a client brief to design and construct a garment that is to be work during a fashion parade. I have also developed an Arts Retreat which invites artists from the community to conduct workshops with students that they would not necessarily experience during the school term. This has included artist from award winning films on special effects make-up and set construction.

We also conduct two awards evenings, the P-12 Art Exhibition - Art Space, and the Film awards, which is a celebration of the most outstanding film works for students throughout the year.

My space has been quoted as being one of the most creative areas in a school by numerous visiting Headmasters from around the country. Coupled with a blended/flipped model, students are being given the freedom to create, experiment and critique on an extremely high level.
